Important note: Telephony – behavior change with Android 15 and our app

We would like to inform you about an important change related to the Android 15 update. This may affect our motica care app, in particular the telephony functions. 


What is changing?

Android 15 introduces a new restriction that prevents two phone apps from being used for the same purpose at the same time. This means that if our motica app is set as the default phone app, the native Samsung phone app will no longer be accessible – and vice versa.


Who is affected?
  • Customers with locked smartphones who only use motica as their phone app:
    • No impact.
  • Customers with unlocked smartphones who always use motica:
    • No impact.
  • Customers with unlocked smartphones who prefer the Samsung phone app:
    • Previously: You could start a call in Samsung and it would be handled by motica.
    • With Android 15: The Samsung phone app cannot be opened unless it is the default app.
    • Impact: Contacts may not sync properly and status updates may not display correctly.
  • Customers switching between Samsung and motica:
    • With Android 15, switching is no longer seamless.
    • Users must remain online to use the motica phone app and will lose access to the features of the Samsung phone app.


What can you do?  

We recommend setting motica as your default phone app to ensure uninterrupted service. If you rely on the features of the Samsung phone app, please note the limitations introduced with Android 15.
